ULTIMATE PHOTO GIFTS - HOW IT STARTED

Just lately I was going crazy trying to figure out what to buy my 80 year old parents, who now have everything.  At least I had been creative enough to figure out I wanted a gift that included  pictures.  I spent days surfing the net and tromping around the city where I live.

It suddenly dawned on me that I probably wasn't the only person having this problem - so I decided to jot down the best sources for finding the ULTIMATE PHOTO GIFTS, so that maybe I could help out a few of you by listing the best in ONE place.  That is why I started Ultimate PhotoGifts. com.  I hope that you have just as much fun reading and exploring my website, as I am having putting it all together.

My top choice was this.  My parents have all these old home movies stashed in a box in the basement, collecting dust.  I found that  iMemories    converts old movies into DVD's.  All I had to do was put the movies in a box (they have special boxes with tracking devices, or you can use your own) and send it to them.  They sent back beautifully digitally mastered DVD's individually labeled.  I told them the DVD's were for my parents' anniversary, so they sent them in a beautiful signature box.  My parents LOVED this!   For once, I really had aced the ultimate gift.  If you are interested in this, go to the iMemories site and click on the Gift Ideas section.  (By the way, my brothers and sisters all want copies - future gifts???)

• Of course, when I told my friend Wendy about what I got my parents for their anniversary, she asked if this company handled old photos, negatives or slides.  She has a ton of photos on slides that she wants to convert to digital to give her daughter.  I checked out iMemories.com   and they do this too - you can actually get your slides converted to digital and then share them online!  I couldn't believe how reasonable the price was.  Check it out!  Who wouldn't want a gift like this?

• Another great site for scanning slides, negatives and photos is ScanCafe.com.  They hand scan and manually adjust each image to correct damage that will have happened in the years since the picture was taken.  The prices are also very reasonable here, and are worth taking a look at.  They also are the number 1 rated scanning company. 

• Have you ever seen a PHOTO BLANKET?  They're beautiful.  This idea was definitely a close runner up.  I know I will be ordering one in the near future for someone.   All you do is upload a photo - and they put it on a blanket.  The colors and clarity are great.  Just think of how many times you could use this gift idea.  I'm thinking of it for Father's Day myself, or Birthdays or for a pet lover - the possibilities are endless!  The person on the receiving end would think of you each time they cuddled up in it!  Have a look at them at PhotoWorks.com .   

•  When I first started looking for a unique gift, I was going to try and scrapbook a photo album for my parents - but I just don't have the time.  If you're like me, you can get a beautiful CUSTOM MADE PHOTO BOOK that is absolutely gorgeous!  You can get all sizes of books, in hardcover or softcover - all you do is pick an event or theme, upload your photos, input the text you want - and voila, you have another ultimate gift!  This idea, however, does take a little more effort than the other ones on this page - but these books are so special!   They can also be found at PhotoWorks.com.
  
   
  
• Finally, while I was looking around PhotoWorks.com, I discovered a photo wine box.  Isn't that different?  I ordered one - I have a wedding to go to and it is perfect with a nice bottle of wine, and a small cash envelope.  It definitely sends the message that you put a lot of thought into your gift.  They also had a lot of smaller photo gifts such as mugs, mousepads, keepsake and jewelry boxes, and photo jewelry.  You can't beat this place!
